About Sharon
I am a technology reporter for The Seattle Times. In my 11 years here, I have reported on City Hall, Medicare fraud at the University of Washington, accounting tricks at the region’s largest Internet company and Christina Aguilera. Depending on the day and the story, I can be a tenacious watchdog, thoughtful wordsmith, relentless AAJA promoter, document scourer, big thinkerĀ or a wickedly funny commentator. I have done short stints as a weekend metro editor, assistant features editor, and three-year resident.
My first job out of college was serving as managing editor for Orange Coast magazine, a regional monthly magazine in Orange County, Calif. The first story I ever got paid for was a 2,500-word feature for the magazine called “Fluffy Gets a Kidney.”
I live in West Seattle with my husband Danny O’Neil (Seattle Times sports reporter and AAJA member) and a wrinkly dog.
